Cardiff Metropolitan University has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Glamorgan CCC to support their Welsh Dragon’s t20 side for the 2012 season.
Glamorgan CCC compete as the Welsh Dragons in all one-day fixtures in 2012, including the Friends Life t20 competition.
The new partnership will include the Cardiff Met logo on the front of the Dragons shirt for home and away matches, offering a unique way to promote the university’s new name as well as raising its national and international profile.
What’s more the unique partnership deal means Cardiff Met students and staff can enjoy reduced rate entry for all t20 matches.
Cardiff Met is one of the ‘MCC Universities’ scheme, ensuring that the most talented young cricketers are encouraged to go into higher education by providing them with the best possible opportunities to develop their cricket at university.

Speaking about the recent partnership Pete Grzonka, Glamorgan CCC Sales Director said “We are delighted to be involved in this new collaborative agreement with Cardiff Met – it is great to be able to support the students and staff at the University.
“The Welsh Dragons have made a good start to their t20 campaign with a home win against Warwickshire Bears and with three home games still to play, an evening at t20 cricket is the perfect way for students to socialise at the end of their academic year and post-exam celebrations.
“Cardiff Met has a great reputation for sporting excellence, and as one of leading universities for student sport in the UK we believe our new partnership is a great fit.”
The Dean of Cardiff Met’s School of Sport, Dave Cobner added “With both Glamorgan CCC and Cardiff Met being part of the MCC University scheme this partnership is a logical fit with benefits for both organisations.
“This could not have come at a better time, we are really excited about this season and it’s great to be involved with such a prestigious organisation.”
